Fred Paa Jord ble dannet i Bergen sommeren 2019 av fire musikere med en stor kjærlighet for gammel afrikansk og asiatisk instrumentalmusikk. Siden vi ikke har noen dedikert vokalist eller frontmann, er det gjerne stemningen i musikken som driver den fremover og havner i fokus. Våre låter er litt som stemningsbilder og har gjerne opphav i følelser vi har i reelle eller imaginære situasjoner. Silkeruten for eksempel, er om en imaginær, sakte togtur gjennom Europa og Asia. Bare Være Fri handler om å løpe fort gjennom en skog om sommeren. Musikken er spilt inn spartansk, med enkelt utstyr og få gjennomganger for å få til den spontane sounden vi er så glad i. Vi er glad i å spille konserter på litt uvanlige steder, og gjerne dekorert med visuelle effekter. Bandnavnet er litt konseptaktig, og skal stå i kontekst med musikken; en mann som heter Fred Paa som bor på jorden. Han liker også fred, og god musikk.

Fred Paa Jord was formed in Bergen, in the summer of 2019 by four musicians with a love for old African and Asian instrumental music. Since they do not have a dedicated vocalist or frontman, it is often the mood of the music that drives it forward and therefore ends up as the focus. Their songs are a bit like ‘mood pictures’ and often stem from emotions felt in real, or imaginary situations. The Silk Road, for example, is about an imaginary, slow train ride through Europe and Asia. Just Being Free is about running fast through a forest in the summer. The music is recorded spartanly, with simple equipment and few rehearsals to ensure we get the spontaneous sound we love so much.
Fred Paa Jord love to play concerts in unusual places, often decorated with visual effects. The band name is a bit conceptual, and should be in context with the music; a man named Fred Paa who lives on earth. He also likes peace and good music.
The Koha project is a series of live music performances hosted and video streamed online by radio station Vers Libre. Koha is a Maori custom from New Zealand, where the visitor offers gifts and a helping hand to the host they visit. Vers Libre has been inspired by this tradition and wants to offer artists the chance to live stream concerts with the help of experienced industry professionals. Koha focuses on highlighting niche genres among newcomers, as opposed to more established artists. Koha is supported by Bergen Kommune and Kulturrådet.
