grisha223 has been active in the local Tromsø scene recently and collects club-inspired sounds that trigger the dancer in her, which she says ‘can be weird at times’.
“I’m usually inspired by local scenes. In Tromsø’s case, where I live, an example would be Guse, who moved back to Tromsø from Oslo and started the record store Brokken Records, reviving the whole electronic music environment in Tromsø. Or Sanjey Sureshkumar, who runs Sasusu Radio that I have the pleasure to work with. Or Amalia, who makes Klubb Tarab happen, and many more people who are engaged in community activities.
Purely musically, what I draw inspiration from fluctuates day by day as I discover new musical paths. There is no specific recipe to what I find interesting, which makes it very personal. Today, I’d say I’m inspired by Rolando Simmons’ refreshingly playful acid beats and 4am’s moody atmospheric drones!
I grew up as a classical violinist, but found interest first in DJing and then producing when I was quite young, after which I focused on music production only. A bit later, I ditched my acoustic violin for an electrical one and now play ambient sets with loopers and time-manipulation, sometimes combined with rhythm machines to fit dance/club environments which I really love.”
